So, I often get patients in my set up at Dr Kandhari’s Skin and Dental Clinic for teeth whitening or dental bleaching. Most of these patients are very concerned and worried about their discoloured smile or as they say “Yellow Smile”. It often plays on their mind and prevents them from smiling even in pictures.
Over time there are also patients who come before a function or an event and want a bright dazzling smile. In such cases we need to work in a limited time period while providing a great result with minimal or no downtime. For such cases if the main complaint is just discolouration than teeth whitening or bleaching works very well.
This is a simple, non-invasive procedure which can be completed in a single sitting in about 30 minutes. There is absolutely no pain, pricking or bleeding involved and in fact is quite a clamming experience.
At Dr Kandhari’s Skin and Dental clinic we use the Zoom whitening system by Phillips. This by far is the best whitening system in the world. It can lighten the teeth by 7 to 8 shades with no pain or sensitivity at all. It does not damage the teeth or cause any kind of enamel loss as is frequently believed by many.
At our clinic we aim to provide a very peaceful and healing environment wherein the bleach is applied on the teeth and left for about 15 minutes under the whitening light. The patient can relax while the magic happens on their teeth. The light enhances the whitening and provides sparkly teeth which are much lighter than their original shade.
We use a relief gel both during and after the treatment which ensures there is no sensitivity at any point. This gel is given to the patient to apply as and when necessary. The results are instantaneous and can be immediately appreciated.
There are few things that need to be kept in mind post the whitening session.

There is no downtime, the results are instantaneous and you can go out immediately after the procedure.
6. What precautions do I need to take after the procedure?
You need to be very careful of not consuming any coloured food or drinks, for a period of two to three days. This includes aerated drinks like coca cola, Pepsi or Fanta, red wine, black coffee, green tea and food containing colour.
This is because after bleaching the teeth are a little dry and will absorb any colour or dye present in the mouth. This lasts for just a day or two and then the teeth are rehydrated with the saliva.
